KICS Series Shielded Keystone Couplers

When you go for a Keystone-Type Coupler, it’s typically to set up a feed-through connection with a metal frame, making port management between equipment and patch panels. Sure, RJ-45 feed-throughs make things convenient, but keep in mind they can cut down on cabling performance because of the direct RJ-45-to-RJ-45 connection. On top of that, Cat 6A standards demand tight Alien Crosstalk limits, meaning you’ve got to use a shielded solution if you’re planning on feed-through connections.

The market speaks, though. Plug-and-Play convenience is a real draw. That’s where HCI’s KICS Series Shielded Keystone Couplers come in. With their smart design, they tackle those worries about transmission performance head-on.

Leading the Way with Patented PCBA
You know it and I know it - packing two RJ-45 sockets into a compact space (the nature of a coupler) means serious noise. The best way to keep your network solid? Skip the couplers. However, when necessary, such as for a feedthrough connection in a telecom room, HCI’s KICS Series provides a solution. With patented impedance-matching technology (U.S. Patent 9391405 B1), it eliminates performance trade-offs while keeping coupler convenience.
No Alien X’talk Whatsoever
In telecom rooms or data center setups, a 48-port feed-through panel in 1RU is ideal, aligning with the typical 48-port network equipment configuration. Die-Cast shielding provides optimal immunity against EMI, including Alien Crosstalk. With a zinc-alloy airtight housing around the PCBA, we ensure no emissions - whether internal or external - interfere with the signal integrity of each port. This is the backbone of how HCI’s KICS is built to dominate.
No More Surprises-Worst Case Checked
OK, now that Alien X’talk is taken care of, what about the internal noise within each cable? In data center patching, cord lengths can be as short as one meter, and the rule of thumb is - the shorter the cord, the worse the NEXT. As previously mentioned, couplers with RJ-45 female connectors on both ends suffer double the NEXT. That’s why the KICS Series is engineered with parameters near Component-Rated limits, ensuring short-cord patching is never an issue.
Typical Case Also Checked
You’ve seen the extreme worst-case scenario in the previous section. Now, you might be curious about how the KICS Series coupler performs with a more typical patching setup. This is a much less demanding configuration, where performance is still strong. If you can achieve a PAR with a 1-meter to 1-meter setup, then with a 3-meter to 2-meter connection, you’re looking at an EAGLE-level result. Refer to the previous section for a clearer picture.
Ready for the Future with PoE Type 4
Having future-proof components is always a good idea, especially if you might need PoE down the line. When the time comes, a midspan PSE can be easily added. But the last thing you want to do is check the 4PPoE compatibility of each connection by that time. HCI’s KICS Series goes beyond promises, being fully verified by Intertek for IEEE 802.3bt and IEC 60512-99-002 standards. It’s built to handle 55V and 2.0 amps per conductor with zero compromise.
Made in Taiwan
Designed and manufactured in Taiwan, HCI’s KICS Series Coupler stands out with its patented PCBA structure, delivering exceptional transmission performance. By integrating a finely tuned balanced circuit that comes close to component-rated standards, it provides ample headroom—even in complex 100-meter channel setups with multiple connections. When you need a feed-through for cross-connections, trust KICS to perform.
