The 300 Series Surface Mount Boxes are available in 1-, 2-, 4-, and 6-port configurations. Each box features spring-loaded shutters that protect unused RJ-45 ports from dust and debris. Ideal for open office environments, these boxes offer a convenient way to add network drops without drilling into walls. Simply run horizontal cables through raceways, terminate them with keystone jacks near workstations or devices, and snap them into a 300 Series box.

As Power over Ethernet (PoE) becomes more common and remote-powered IP devices continue to evolve, the need for simplified installations has grown. Today, one cable can carry both power and data - eliminating the hassle of installing power outlets in remote areas. To support this, the Modular Plug Terminated Link (MPTL) standard was officially recognized in 2018. MPTL configurations involve a keystone jack or patch panel on one end, and a modular plug on the other - usually terminated on-site using Field Termination Plugs and solid 23AWG UTP or screened cables.

Conventional RJ-45 plugs aren't designed for this - they’re typically made for stranded conductors under 1.1mm. That's why most installers turn to Field Termination Plugs for the device end of MPTL setups. This method removes the need for faceplates and patch cords, streamlining connections to powered devices like Ceiling Projectors, IP cameras, Wi-Fi APs, and lighting systems.

However, traditional installations are still perfectly valid. As shown in the illustration below, simply run the cables from the zone distribution point to the work area, terminate them with keystone jacks, seat them into a 300 Series surface mount box, and connect your powered devices using short patch cords. The job can still be done the traditional way, no problem.

Each surface mount box comes with two self-tapping screws. For non-permanent setups, adhesive backing is also included for clean, tool-free mounting.
