Solar Charging Box for Autonomous Remote IoT Application

Every structured cabling project eventually reaches an edge, the point where copper stops and something else has to take over. Two problems show up there more than any other: there is no power, or there is no reliable bandwidth.

We built our new IoT Solutions category to answer both.

The Edge of Your Network Just Moved

Every structured cabling project eventually reaches an edge, the point where copper stops and something else has to take over. Two problems show up there more than any other: there is no power, or there is no reliable bandwidth.

We built our new IoT Solutions category to answer both.

1. When There's No Power: Autonomous Remote IoT

Running grid power to a remote sensor, camera, or gateway can cost more than $10,000 per site. Swapping disposable batteries adds a recurring $500 service visit every time. For a lot of installs, that math kills the project before it starts.

Solar Charging Box for Remote IoT

Our Solar Charging Solution is a patented alternative built for exactly this problem.

  • Captures light that standard panels miss. A patented waveguide encapsulation design gives the module a 176.6° wide-angle collection field, so it keeps harvesting from clouds, reflections, and ambient light, not just direct sun.
  • Works where standard solar gives up. ITRI-validated mono-Si TOPCon cells stay active down to 1/1000 of full sunlight, roughly 1,000 lux, holding up to 23.97% power conversion efficiency even indoors or under heavy overcast.
  • Wastes almost nothing. A proprietary MPPT manager delivers 95% storage efficiency and a 15μW standby draw, so close to every milliwatt harvested reaches the battery instead of the circuit board.
  • Protects the battery long term. Built-in health control cuts output at 2.8V and restarts at 3.4V, with configurable Vbat, 5V, 9V, or 12V outputs to match whatever sensor you're powering.

Over its lifespan, one unit displaces roughly 1,500 AA batteries and saves an estimated 84.36 kg of CO2 per year, useful numbers if your customer is reporting on ESG targets.

Two sizes cover most deployments: the Small Box for Bluetooth and LoRaWAN sensors (10mW–100mW), and the Large Box for gateways, cellular transmitters, and actuators (500mW–2W+), IP67-rated for outdoor duty.

2. When There's No Reach: High-Bandwidth Cabled IoT

Wi-Fi 6E/7 access points, 4K PTZ cameras, and edge compute devices need a different kind of help: real bandwidth and real power, delivered over a link that still passes certification.

High-Bandwidth Cabled IoT

You've seen the mechanism behind this before. Our 88TK and 88TSK Field Termination Plugs turn a field-made connection into a certifiable MPTL link, rated for Cat 6A speeds and up to 90W PoE++. Paired with extended-reach copper, that same link now runs past the traditional 100m limit to 200m or more.
