When choosing a Keystone Type Coupler, the goal is typically to establish a Feed-Through connection to enable interconnection or cross-connection in telecom or equipment rooms. It’s worth noting that TIA-568.2-D and ISO-11801 standards do not define Component-Rated test limits for couplers, recognizing their inherent disadvantage in potentially messing with overall channel performance. Performance Starts with Patented Core
Couplers with keystone mounting are often loaded into a blank panel to cross-connect between the patch panel and network equipment. However, the RJ-45 to RJ-45 connection inside the coupler introduces double the inherent crosstalk, despite the plug-and-play convenience it provides. But with HCIās KIC Series, itās never an issue. Utilizing impedance-matching technology protected by U.S. Patent 9391405 B1, the connection performs as if it doesnāt even exist.
No Corners Cut, Worst Case Checked
Couplers are often used as cross-connects in IT rooms, offering plug-and-play convenience. Normally, you'd need to monitor the performance of the entire channel, especially if a short patch cord is placed on either side of the coupler, due to the rule that "shorter cords lead to worse NEXT." However, thatās not the case with HCIās KIC Series. Itās engineered to manage disturbances between short patch cord connections, even in the most challenging 1M-coupler-1M setup.
What About Typical Case?
In reality, the extreme 1M-coupler-1M setup doesnāt occur every day. More commonly, patching involves configurations like 3M-coupler-2M or 5M-coupler-3M. Having already seen the worst-case scenario, you wonāt be surprised by the 5dB margin of variation in these more typical setups. HCIās KIC Series is designed to make the channel behave as if no coupler is present at all, with degradation so minimal itās practically unnoticeable.

Itās Intertek certified and consistently tested for IEEE 802.3bt PoE Type 4, capable of supporting up to 90W power delivery, and meets IEC 60512-99-002 standards for mating durability. This ensures the KIC Series can handle 55V and 2.0 amps across each conductor, well beyond the current PoE Type 4 PD can draw.
