When it comes to Cat 6A, efforts to minimize alien crosstalk in disturbed network ports have led to various new designs, with staggered port layouts being the most common. A common approach involves a staggered two-dimensional 12-port-up, 12-port-down layout, which helps reduce alien crosstalk at certain levels but still falls short. This design achieves a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of around 60dB—still far below the 70dB SNR required for 10Gbps performance under standard specifications. HCI’s SP24ZM Series Patch Panel takes it a step further, using a 3D-optimized layout to maximize the distance between corner network ports and disturbed ports, significantly reducing alien crosstalk.

By introducing Z-axis spacing beyond conventional surface-level designs, it provides unmatched alien crosstalk reduction. Up front, each recessed RJ-45 port (odd-numbered) has a handy slide to prevent snagging when you unplug cords—no fuss, no worries. Around the back, the SP24ZM Series steps up with rigid 1.6mm SECC steel cable management, strengthened with reinforcing ribs to handle heavy-duty cables without bending. You can align each cable neatly with its port, keeping your setup tidy and organized.
Keep all 24 ports in 1U with 3-D staggered
Imagine if the SP24ZM had to drop from 24 ports to just 16 to pass Alien Crosstalk—that wouldn't be unique, would it? It took a lot of engineering effort, but we pulled it off. Sticking to the EIA-310 specs, we pushed the limits and got the recessed ports (odd-numbered) 1cm apart from the surface ports (even-numbered), all while ensuring that keystone jacks under 18mm still fit perfectly into the panel.
