The SMB12 is commonly used as a Multi-User Telecommunications Outlet Assembly (MUTOA) near workstations for intermediate terminations in zone cabling systems. The unit accommodates up to 12 voice/data ports, which are then distributed to individual workstations using patch cords of varying lengths based on distance from the MUTOA.
